With bold styling, a comfortable interior, and plenty of tech and safety features, the 2021 Hyundai Kona gives other subcompact crossover SUVs a run for their money. Check out these five reasons why the Hyundai Kona will exceed your expectations.

  1. Sleek Exterior

An aggressive grille and sleek lighting give the Kona a head-turning, sporty appearance and make it look great no matter where you take it. Choose from six trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, Ultimate, and the snazzy Night Edition. In some states, the Kona Electric is also available.

With a wheelbase of 102.4 inches, the Kona is perfect for urban driving as well as light off-roading. Choose from the interesting color options such as Galactic Gray, Surf Blue, and Pulse Red to build your perfect Kona.

  1. Solid Performance

You’ll enjoy the power and performance of the Kona with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 147-horsepower engine found on the SE, SEL, and SEL Plus trims. Paired with the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission. When you want a peppier powertrain, the Limited, Ultimate, and Night Edition feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 175-horsepower engine. It’s paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch-transmission that will take you from zero to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds.

For the drivetrain, you can get the standard front-wheel drive, or for extra traction on slippery terrain, choose the available all-wheel-drive. On the Kona Electric, you get a 150 kWh 201-horsepower electric motor with a driving range of 258 miles.

  1. Nimble Handling

Car experts are thrilled with the handling of the Kona. All trims come with independent MacPherson struts and coil springs in the front and gas-pressurized shock absorber for the front and rear axles. Front-wheel drive variations have a coupled-torsion beam axle, and all-wheel-drive versions have an independent multi-link design. Another feature of the all-wheel-drive versions of the Kona is a lockable center differential that provides extra traction on uneven or wet terrain.

  1. Modern Interior

Two rows of seats fit five people. For flexible storage space, the Kona comes with a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback. When you move up to the Limited, Ultimate, and Night Edition trims, you get power-adjustable seats, a heated driver’s seat, and leather upholstery. Lower trims have a 7-inch touch screen, and the upper trims have an 8-inch touch screen to display information from Hyundai’s infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration come standard across all trims.

Standard on the three upper trims and available on the others is Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car system, and on the Ultimate, you can easily view relevant vehicle information on the head-up display.

  1. Safety and Driver-Assist Features

Safety while driving is important, and with Hyundai’s SmartSense driver-assist features, you‘ll get a helping hand with safety. Standard and available features include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic collision warning, and a driver attention warning. You’ll also find extra safety features like automatic high-beam headlights and smart cruise control.
