4 Fun Things to See and Do in Downtown Fort Smith, AR

If you’re looking for something fun to do on a weekday night or a weekend, take a stroll through downtown Fort Smith, AR. We made a list of a few of our favorite places to visit in downtown to make it easier for you to explore. Check these places out: you’ll have a lot of fun!

1. Fort Smith Farmer’s Market

This is the first one on the list because this is our favorite thing to do. Farmer’s markets have such a unique culture, and Fort Smith’s farmer’s market is no different. This is a morning activity, as it’s only open from 7am. to noon on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Saturday mornings you can find street performers and local musicians as well as artists, farmers, and tourists. Even if you don’t need veggies, it’s a fun place to go and people-watch!

2. Fort Smith National Historic Site

If history is your thing, this one will be of great interest to you! You can see the sites where the soldiers had drills in the Civil War and the Mexican War. You can even walk on the Trail of Tears. If you need a more compact vehicle with great gas mileage for driving around downtown, the 2022 Hyundai Elantra SEL is a perfect choice. 3. Civil Axe Throwing

We wanted to put a little something in here for everyone. We know not everyone loves farmer’s markets and history, so this one is for those of you who love sports. This is a great competitive team-building activity for a group of coworkers, or you can go with a group of close friends. Axe throwing has become wildly popular over the last few years. It’s a major step up from throwing darts, and we are here for the fun!

4. The Park at West End

If you like to have fun and have children, this is the one for you. This cute park has a Ferris wheel, a vintage merry-go-round, and even a splash pad. Admission to the park is free, and you can catch a ride on the Ferris wheel for just $1. Grab a snack at the concession stand or get some dinner at the fun railcar diner. This is a fun evening out all by itself!
