Founded by Hyundai Motor America, Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels is a nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. This organization aims to fund research and increase awareness, supporting pediatric oncology research through numerous fundraising events and collaborations nationwide.

History of Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels

In 1998, Hyundai and a coalition of New England dealers took a stand against pediatric cancer by backing a local effort to support the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This initiative rapidly expanded nationwide, transforming into Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW).

Hyundai Empowers Fight Against Cancer

Operating as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, HHOW is committed to helping children in their fight against cancer. Through its efforts, HHOW aims to fund critical research and promote awareness of childhood cancer. Supported by Hyundai Motor America, its extensive network of over 830 dealers, and loyal customers, HHOW receives a portion of proceeds from every new vehicle sale. In 2017, HHOW surpassed a significant milestone, contributing over $130 million in lifetime donations to pediatric cancer research in the United States.

Each year, Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels hosts “Handprint Ceremonies” at various children’s hospitals and medical centers throughout the United States. These ceremonies allow children battling cancer or those who have overcome it to leave their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle. This gesture represents their personal and shared journeys in combating childhood cancer. The handprints serve as a powerful symbol of the essential need for continued research and support for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
